Quick trip to Vermont :: March 3rd, 2009
This weekend was really fun! A Bride (Stephanie & Howard) from 2008 invited me to meet her and some friends in Burlington for the annual Magic Hat Mardi Gras and so I couldn’t say no! We had planned on Trashing her Wedding Dress during the parade, however it was very cold and we were very lazy. We keep throwing around the idea of trashing it in water anyway, so now we’ve rescheduled for summer, yet again! On Sunday, I met up with them for brunch at Magnolia and then some beer tasting at Magic Hat! Good times! How awesome that my work ends up bringing so much play?!
My good friends, Rebekah and Steve, live just south of Burlington so it was really nice to be able to stay with them and hang out around their farm house with the cats too. Steve makes these really cool lights and I’m planning on having him make something for my yard (like a light fountain). We spent some time talking about that and drinking his homemade hard cider and wine. Yum! Sunday night we were invited over to some friends for dinner of yummy shrimp tacos and it was a nice chill evening.
On Friday, I went over the mountain to another friend’s house to meet up for some snowboarding. My Skateboarding Groom, Bret, was able to get up there as well and the three of us shredded Sugarbush until it was too rainy to have any more fun. Unfortunately 7 feet of snow quickly turned to one big block of ice so we hung around the rest of the evening and ate dinner at the famous American Flatbread. Wow, amazingly tasty and a great night with some cool dudes. After getting stuck in Josh’s driveway twice (and feeling like such a girl!), I headed back to Rebekah’s just in time to go to Mardi Gras on Saturday.
The drive home Monday was pretty treacherous as the big storm rolled in off the East coast! I was driving through the winding mountains of the Adirondacks when I accidentally hit a squirrel. While mourning, my car started to slide down the mountain and all of my counter measures proved too drastic! Finally after sliding this way, then that way, I hit the snow/ice/salt bank on the side of the mountain and stopped. After I was done cursing, I righted myself and got back on my journey. No harm was done to the car and not far up the road was the expressway! Finally, a flat and easy road. Well, all around Albany were near whiteout conditions, so it didn’t get much better. A nail biter all the way to Utica! Sweet sweet winter travel!
So, now I am back to reality and overwhelmed at the amount of work I need to do before another upcoming action packed weekend of more friends and work. Stay tuned! This month is going to be a doozy! A wedding this weekend, my brother is visiting next week and a brand new website is launching very very soon!

I remember the lady at Magic Hat saying there was a storm on it’s way. Thankfully you are ok!! It was absolutely wonderful getting together with you this weekend. Thanks for making the trip into Burlington – twice! Hopefully we’ll see you again in a couple months. I have already let Merri in on our plans. On the trip home, Howey and I tossed around some ideas – our favorite involves the dress, a bowtie and a pack of jetskis…
P.S. I can’t wait to see the new website!
