Sedona, Arizona! :: January 9th, 2009
I wasn’t planning on blogging while I am away, but I found some internet access and some time! Plus, Sedona is TOO beautiful not to share! Wow! We flew into Phoenix airport and drove to our condo in Sedona. The view from our balcony is all I really need to see! Close view of Bell Rock and other major formations. A quick drive up the road and we got to see the Chapel built on the side of a cliff. That was amazing! The moon was out and we watched the sunset from that vantage point. We’ve been getting up early and chasing sunrises and waiting for sunsets as a goal for each day. In between, I’m hiking as much as possible, as I hear the weather in Rochester is 8 degrees and snowy! With any luck, my body will make some Vitamin D and get a tan. Pat and I hiked a few miles up to Bell Rock yesterday, and that was stunning. I can’t really describe how content I am to just walk around what was once a sea floor.
Today, we drove up to the largest ghost town in America… Jerome. The city is an old copper mining town built on a cliff, so the houses occasionally slide down… Everything is really run down, but there were a lot of really nice people and things to take pictures of. Lunch was awesome! We had a clear view Humphrey’s Peak (near Flagstaff), there was bluegrass music on the radio and I had an awesome Prickly Pear Cactus Margarita! Life doesn’t get much better than this… oh, wait, it does… one of my traveling partners took an awesome sunrise picture of me! Pat and I still have to get some shots with the Holga…
